Watercolor Paper Plate Crown Activity

One of the best things about the Easter season is how much focus is given to the life and character of Jesus. It’s a perfect time to teach children about who Jesus is, what He has done, and what He continues to do. This week we are making a paper plate crown to remind us of one big idea:
Jesus is King
Jesus is king of the world, king of our hearts, and king of all things. What an amazing truth to teach to our children!
Psalm 102:12 But you, O LORD, are enthroned forever.
Paper Plate Craft
What you’ll need:
- Paper plate
- Using watercolors, paint the non-glossy side of the paper plate.
- Once it dries, fold the plate in half and cut three slits through the plate (see image below).
- Unfold the plate and bend the points upwards to look like a crown.
The Authority of Jesus
Living in our individualistic society, I think we will always struggle to grasp the idea that Jesus is our king. What does it mean to be free in Christ and also a servant of God? What does it look like to show Him the reverence and honor He deserves as creator of the universe? How do I teach this to my children who see the way we treat the leaders of our own country?
I am wrestling with these questions more now than ever. Since we have so little in our own society to show us what true reverence looks like, I look to stories, books, films, and art for inspiration. I pray that the Holy Spirit works in our hearts to show us the absolute power and magnitude of God and bring us to our knees in awe and wonder before our beautiful King.
We would love to see how your child’s crowns turned out! Find us on Facebook and post some pictures! Faithful Little Hands Facebook Page>>
